A future for Polaroid film you say!?
22nd January 2009
I am an avid money pit of Polaroids I will never let go of and it will never end. Partly because I just bought a Pentax 67 with a Polaroid back and partly because Polaroid has a future, albeit a nearly impossible one. Maybe I sensed it, something about the closure and fuji taking over just seemed, well, … wrong. and I was right! The fight is being led by Impossible b.v., including several men who have worked much of their life in the Polaroid factory and lead manager of the Lomographic Society, Florian Kaps. Their goal is not to simply reopen shop but also to find more efficient means of production and replace some of the more expencive chemicals while still maintaining quality.
I have 2 packs of Polaroid film left before my venture into fuji land and although I’m not excited, I now know it may only be for a short while that I make the sacrifice. To ensure this, or try, Im going to design some shirts that partially benefit the cause! Give me time because I havent even started but Ill have something up for sale here soon if theyre down with the deal.
Take a look at the site since you;ll find out more info there.

the pinhole mountains
20th January 2009
the pinhole mountains , originally uploaded by LostLogo .
I made an old argus brick into a pinhole after I sabotaged it trying to fix the shutter and so far this is about as good as it can do. I’m getting good exposure times but no focus. I know the camera is still for the shots so I’m pretty sure it’s the size of the pinhole or something. Any ideas?
Holga + 35mm + stories
11th January 2009
I like using 35 mm in my holga for many reasons. Its so easy to double expose for one and you get those great spockets (if you scan without the negative holder) and between holga character, technical glitches and content you can get some pretty interesting stories rather than one static photo representing one static idea.
I try to take a couple or few photos at a time of one situation, like with the one below, it was Christmas eve and we were stuck in town, unable to go to my mothers for the weekend,(due to the snow). We walked around the neighbourhood, feeling an intense cabin fever and found one restaurant open that served garden burgers. We sat frustrated on the second floor looking out the window and the world that trapped us from enjoying the holidays the way we planned. Between the look on Ross’s face and the street outside, 2 photos that faced opposite directions when taken, I think the message came across, Its not that I planned them that way, they just work out that way with the right “mistake”. As you can see, theres also some guys legs in the photo, no idea whose. I called it Trapped in Paradise, after a great xmas movie I usually watch every year.
This one is less of a story but I liked it anyway. Later on Christmas eve we went downtown and found a Hanukkah party, and made $20 on a magical dreidel. I also used my pentax flash for this one.
This one is best viewed large. Its basically a story of what me, my roommate and mother did on New Years, which turned out to be our late Christmas. I dont remember if I used flash for these, seems like I didnt so I must have told them to sit super still while I propped the camera on something. We sat around watching movies and getting fat on snacks. It was a nice break.
I think I’ll do more of these, maybe with a little more intention if possible.
For reference: I turn the knob 3 times after a shot, so to avoid double exposure I guess 4 or 5 times might be better, seems like allot I know but from expereince thats how its worked out.

Some new winter Holgas!
11th January 2009
Holga with pro 800Z film , Scanned without the scanner film holder, works wonders!
Holga with pro 800Z film , Winter Storm Blossoms,
Holga with Rolei Retro film and my stand alone pentax flash. Me roommate, the subject of allot of my photos, found this great parking garage so when bored one night around 2 am, the first night of snow, we went and played around with my holga. My roomate is holding my Regula Sprinty, one of my favorite cameras It takes photos very much like my Lomo Smena 8 but sadly the shutter speed is jammed and I’m stuck shooting at 125th. I may get another one on ebay just because its so fun.
You can use any flash that doesnt use a pc sync cord with a holga, but beware that you attach it well, My last nice flash went flying off my camera onto some concrete because it just wouldnt clamp into place and well, I was a little tipsy. I havent yet droped a camera from my hands so I concider myself lucky still. My new flash is better anyways and I can use it with every camera I have one way or another. I got a little hotshoe adaptor with a pc sync cord so I can use it with my lomo smena but sadly my sync input is broken off , looks like im going to ebay for a new smena as well.
